Impressions
Here’s the latest anime from Bee Train, with help from Production IG (or vice versa), and the visual similarities with Noir and .hack//SIGN don’t take a careful eye to notice. The music is by Ali Project (and Ishikawa Yoshimoto), which is both interesting and somewhat of a disappointment. Upon recognizing an obvious Ali Project song as the OP, I was hoping for another Kajiura Yuki score since I know she has a fondness for them. Alas, I’m still waiting for the next effort from the talented Noir/.hack composer. Even so, the BGM is pretty good. Like those aforementioned anime, the music of Avenger seems to be another character, vitally important to mood.
Anyway, the series is mysterious and intriguing early on. Very little makes sense at this juncture.
...
Okay, as much as I like Bee Train and the Ali Project soundtrack, this anime just isn’t doing it for me. Since I don’t like any of the protagonists (Layla has no personality and Speedy is annoyingly like Leo from Scrapped Princess), I’m not willing to stick around while the mystery within an enigma that is the Avenger plotline slowly unfolds itself. I guess I’ll just grab the OST when it comes out.
