Synopsis

Three eight-year-olds, Onigawara Mao, Tsukishima Misora, and Maruyama Sylvia, are designated as Japan’s special defense force (ground, air, & sea respectively), charged with protecting Japan from the threat of mysterious invaders from space…Kawaii Aliens!

Impressions

While its sister show Asagiri no Miko doesn’t take itself seriously, Earth Defender Mao-chan (aka Ground Defense Force Mao-chan) goes one better; it is a complete over-the-top magical girl farce.

It’s certainly funny, but it’s a bit one-dimensional. I don’t see how the comedy can be sustained for another 20 episodes (he says, having watched six).
