Synopsis

From the Gainax website:

The story of the hamster Ebichu, the single Office Lady (OL) who owns her, and the owner’s good-for-nothing boyfriend, comes to anime, naughty jokes and all.

It was said that it couldn’t be animated because of its inflammatory content. But Anno Hideaki and Gainax succeeded, without deleting any of the naughty dialogue or images from the manga.

Impressions

Leave it to Anno Hideaki and Gainax to make a TV show from the raunchy and offensive sexual content of Itou Risa’s best-selling women’s manga. This is NOT Hamtaro. Ebichu is filled with extreme cuteness and violence, dirty jokes, and graphic cartoon sex. And it is one of the funniest things I have seen.

Random Thoughts

At 10 minutes or so long, the show aired as part of Ai no Awa Awa Awaa, a compilation of short women’s anime.

Ebichu is voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono (Misato – Evangelion, Excel – Excel Saga, Usagi – Sailor Moon). She also sings the OP.
